(May 25, 2006) -- Food World and Senior Bowl officials announced on Thursday that checks totaling $208,000 representing proceeds generated by the 18th annual Food World Senior Bowl Charity Run held last November would be presented to 18 charitable agencies along the Gulf Coast selected as the event’s donation recipients for 2006.he Food World Senior Bowl Charity Run’s mission is to raise funds for charities whose services, activities or programs benefit youth and the arts along the Gulf Coast. Food World and Senior Bowl officials presented checks to 16 different organization and agencies during its annual “Charity Caravan” tour held at six locations in Mobile and Baldwin counties on Thursday.

The Charity Caravan’s first stop on Thursday morning was at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, and continued up the Eastern Shore for another check presentation at Mercy Medical in Daphne. Thomas will use the funds for a new childhood obesity awareness and prevention program in Baldwin County, while the donation to Mercy will go to its Guardian Angel Program, which supports the cost of Mercy’s extensive pediatric home care services.
