Food World Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership
Continues To Impact Area Charities

Recent donations have increased Partnership’s impressive amount of giving to over $4.2 million.

MOBILE, Ala. (June 18, 2007) -- Thanks to the Food World - Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership, the northern Gulf Coast is a better place to live.

Since its inception, the Partnership has created an amazing legacy of charitable giving, one that has succeeded in donating over $4 million to Gulf Coast charities.

And recent donations this spring, which included the final $50,000 installment of a five-year, $250,000 pledge to the USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital, have now pushed that impressive figure to over $4.2 million.

“We are very pleased that the Food World - Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership continues to play such a significant role in the lives of so many needy citizens along the Gulf Coast,” said Senior Bowl President Steve Hale. “It is also a pleasure to be associated with Food World, a company that feels so strongly about giving back to the communities in which they do business.”

Through successful family-oriented events such as the Food World Senior Bowl Charity Run, funds have been raised by the Food World - Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership for Gulf Coast area charities that have now exceeded $4.2 million.

The Food World - Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership’s mission is to raise funds for charities whose services, activities or programs benefit youth and youth-related activities along the Gulf Coast.

“Our Food World customers frequently mention the importance of supporting children’s charities and local organizations,” said Bruno’s Vice President and General Manager Scott North in praise of the Partnership’s grass roots philanthropy. “Because so many of our shoppers are moms, they understand how much it means to lend a helping hand.”

The fulfillment of the five-year pledge to the USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital is the latest charitable highlight in the Partnership’s longtime support of the hospital, which has resulted in over $500,000 in donations used for various projects at the facility.

The recent donations were used to help fund the much-needed renovation of the hospital’s lobby, making it more user friendly and creating a much more pleasant environment for patients and their families.

In addition to the annual Senior Bowl players' visit to patients at the USA Children's and Women's Hospital, the Food World - Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership's impact on the hospital has been significant, resulting in over $500,000 in donations to the hospital in recent years including the fulfillment of a five-year, $250,000 pledge in the spring of 2007.

In addition to USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital, 15 other charitable agencies along the Gulf Coast have received proceeds from the Partnership in 2007 including major donations which were made to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., Thomas Hospital in Fairhope and Mercy Medical in Daphne.

Funds donated to Sacred Heart, which brought the total given to that hospital by the Partnership since 2002 to over $220,000, have been used to purchase a new neonatal intensive care ambulance which is especially equipped for transport and treatment of critically ill and injured infants and children.

Other Gulf Coast charitable agencies receiving funds from the Partnership this spring include the Mobile County Special Olympics, the Drug Education Council, Alabama Pre-School for the Sensory Impaired, the Mobile Association for Retarded Citizens, the Child Advocacy Center, the Mobile Association for the Blind, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Mobile Symphony, Ballet and Opera, the Mobile YMCA and the Pensacola Boys and Girls Clubs.

In addition to the Charitable Partnership, Food World also served as the title sponsor of the Food World Senior Bowl Charity Run, the popular road race held annually in downtown Mobile on the first Saturday in November, and several other special events held during the year including the Food World Senior Bowl Sailing Regatta, the Food World Fan Frenzy held the Friday afternoon prior to the Senior Bowl football game, and the Food World Tailgate Party at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on game day.
