Favre, Kiwanuka Win Senior Bowl Alumni Top Performer Honors For Week Four

MOBILE, Ala. (October 2, 2007) -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre threw for 344 yards and two TD’s and broke fellow Senior Bowler Dan Marino’s all-time NFL touchdown pass record to give the Packers a 23-16 win and earned him the Senior Bowl NFL Alumni Top Offensive Performer Award for Week Four.

Marino, who played in the 1983 Senior Bowl, previously held the mark of 421 career TD passes. Favre played in the 1991 Senior Bowl.

Defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka keyed a stellar defensive effort by the New York Giants in a 16-3 victory over the Eagles to win the Top Defensive Performer Award. Kiwanuka recorded six total tackles and three quarterback sacks in the contest.

Over 575 former Senior Bowl players are currently active in the NFL.

Other top performances by former Senior Bowl players in the NFL during Week Four included:

Passing:

  • Steve McNair, Baltimore – Senior Bowl Hall of Famer completed 34-53 for 307 yards and a touchdown.
  • Matt Schaub, Houston – passed for 317 yards and a touchdown.
  • Chad Pennington, New York Jets – Completed 32 of 39 passes for 291 yards and one touchdown.

Rushing:

  • Justin Fargas, Oakland – rushed for 179 yards on 22 carries in 35-17 win.
  • Joseph Addai, Indianapolis – gained 136 yards and added a touchdown in 38-20 win over Detroit.
  • LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego – 2006 NFL MVP rushed for 132 yards and a TD.
  • Travis Henry, Denver – gained 131 yards on 26 carries.
  • Larry Johnson, Kansas City – rushed for 123 yards in 30-16 Chiefs win.

Receiving:

  • Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City – rookie first-rounder hauled in eight catches for 164 yards and a touchdown to help lead Chiefs to 30-16 victory.
  • Deion Branch, Seattle – Former Super Bowl MVP caught seven for 130 yards in 23-3 win over San Francisco.

Defense:

  • Darnell Docket, DL, Arizona – had six total tackles and 2.5 sacks in 21-14 win.
  • Patrick Willis, LB, San Francisco – rookie had 12 total tackles, ten unassisted.
  • Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle – had two interceptions and two tackles in 23-3 Seahawks’ victory.
  • Morlon Greenwood, LB, Houston – had 11 total tackles.
  • Angelo Crowell, LB, Buffalo – recorded 11 total tackles.
  • Brian Urlacher, LB, Chicago – 2005 NFL Defensive Player of the Year recorded 12 total tackles.
  • Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, DL, Green Bay – had three sacks, three tackles and one forced fumble in Packers’ 23-16 win.
