MOBILE, Ala. (October 9, 2007) -- San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers led his club to a 41-3 thrashing of the Denver Broncos, completing 13 of 18 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns, to earn the Senior Bowl NFL Alumni Top Offensive Performer Award for Week Five.

Defensively, linebacker Lance Briggs of the Chicago Bears recorded an NFL individual season-high 16 tackles in a 27-20 victory over the Green Bay Packers to win the Senior Bowl NFL Alumni Top Defensive Performer Award for the week.

Over 575 former Senior Bowl players are currently active in the NFL.

Other top performances by former Senior Bowl players in the NFL during Week Five included:

Passing:

  • Brett Favre, Green Bay – was 29-40 for 322 yards and a touchdown.
  • Matt Schaub, Houston – completed 20-34 passes for 294 yards in 22-19 win.
  • Jason Campbell, Washington – completed 23 of 29 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns in 34-3 Redskins’ win.

Rushing:

  • Michael Turner, San Diego – gained 147 yards on just ten carries and scored a touchdown in 41-3 Chargers’ route.
  • Brian Leonard, St. Louis – rookie gained 102 yards rushing on 18 carries and also added 33 more yards receiving.

Receiving:

  • Ben Watson, New England – Caught six passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns in 34-17 Patriots’ win.
  • Devery Henderson, New Orleans – caught four passes for 101 yards.
  • Antwaan Randle El, Washington – 2002 Senior Bowl MVP caught seven passes for 100 yards.

Defense:

  • Patrick Willis, LB, San Francisco – recorded 12 total tackles to continue stellar rookie campaign.
  • Jarrett Johnson, DL, Baltimore – had four tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in 9-7 Ravens’ victory.
  • Derrick Brooks, LB, Tampa Bay – Senior Bowl Hall of Famer had 12 total tackles, 11 unassisted.
  • Barrett Ruud, LB, Tampa Bay – had 11 total tackles.
  • Jason Taylor, DE/LB, Miami – 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year recorded six total tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble.
  • Will Witherspoon, LB, Arizona – had 14 total tackles, 11 unassisted, and added a forced fumble in 34-31 victory.
  • Ken Lucas, DB, Carolina – had nine total tackles.
  • Julian Peterson, LB, Seattle – had ten total tackles and a sack.
  • Michael Boley, LB, Atlanta – recorded 14 total tackles and one interception.
  • Aaron Ross, DB, New York Giants – rookie made first two career interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, in 35-24 Giants’ victory.
  • D’Qwell Jackson, LB, Cleveland – had 14 total tackles, nine unassisted.
