LSU's Jackson To Play In 2008
Under Armour Senior Bowl
All-SEC cornerback
and Mobile native to return home for January 26 contest.
MOBILE, Ala. (December
2, 2007) -- LSU All-SEC cornerback Chevis Jackson, a Mobile native
who helped lead the Tigers to the 2007 SEC Championship and a berth in
the BCS Championship Game, has accepted an invitation to play in the
2008 Under Armour Senior Bowl.
Jackson, a 6-0, 195-pounder, recorded 42
tackles, four interceptions, 15 pass break-ups and 19 passes defended
during an outstanding senior season. His 15 PBU’s ranked second in the
SEC and 11th nationally, while three of his picks set up LSU scores this
season.
He also has seven interceptions during his
Tigers’ career.

Also considered one the top cornerbacks
available in this year’s NFL Draft, Jackson prepped at Mobile’s St.
Paul’s Episcopal School.
“It’s going to be great to go home and
play,” Jackson told the Mobile Press-Register shortly after the Tigers’
21-14 victory over Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game. “I grew up
dreaming of playing in the Senior Bowl and seeing everybody play in it.
It’s a dream of mine. I’m happy about it.”
Jackson turned in an outstanding
performance against Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game, recording
five tackles, one for loss, and had three pass break-ups to lead the
Tigers’ secondary.
“I think that’s (the Senior Bowl) is where
you increase your stock,” said Jackson. “I just have to go out there and
play, have fun and do what I do. Hopefully, everything will work out for
the best.”
Additional members of LSU’s 2007 SEC
Champions will also join Jackson on the Senior Bowl’s South team roster
and will be officially announced at a later date.
Tickets to the 2008 Under Armour Senior
Bowl, scheduled for January 26, 2008, in Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium,
are currently on sale at all area Food World stores, selected Regions
Bank branches and the Senior Bowl ticket office in the Riverview Plaza
Hotel.
