Under Armour Senior Bowl
Announces 2008 Kickoff Time
59th annual contest,
set for January 26, will begin at 3:00 p.m. and tickets are currently on
sale through SeniorBowl.com

MOBILE,
Ala. (October 3, 2007) -- Fans attending the 2008 Under Armour
Senior Bowl will have the opportunity to enjoy another late afternoon
kickoff.
Bowl officials announced on Thursday that
the official kickoff time for the 59th annual contest, set for January
26, 2008, in Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium, would be 3:00 p.m.
In recent years, the Senior Bowl has
featured late afternoon kickoffs, giving fans plenty of time to enjoy
all of the pre-game activities and extensive tailgating that
traditionally takes place at the stadium.
“Our fans have consistently let us know
how much they’ve enjoyed the late afternoon kickoffs in recent years and
we’re very pleased to be able to feature a 3:00 p.m. kickoff again this
year,” said Senior Bowl President Steve Hale. “We feel this time also
offers the over 40,000 fans who attend our contest each year the
opportunity to enjoy all of the aspects of Senior Bowl game day that
make it such a unique and enjoyable event.”
The kickoff time allows officials to
create a game day schedule that enables fans to have plenty of time to
experience all of the pre-game activities, which will include the giant
Food World Tailgate Party held in the Ladd-Peebles Stadium parking lot
from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. While ranking as one of America’s largest free
tailgate parties with over 3,000 attendees, it features free food, games
and interactives and live musical entertainment.
The first 3,000 fans that purchase tickets
only at area Food World stores beginning Monday, November 5, will also
receive a free pass to attend this year’s Tailgate Party with each
ticket purchase.
Fans will also be able to participate in
the fifth annual Baumhower’s Wings Restaurant Tailgate Challenge in the
parking lot prior to the game, as fans compete for the title of “Senior
Bowl Tailgater of the Year” and a host of prizes.
Senior Bowl 2008 will also feature
spectacular pre-game and halftime shows, presented by State Farm
Insurance, featuring the University of Alabama “Million Dollar” Band and
the New Orleans Saints “Saintsations” dance team.
Bowl officials also announced that ticket
prices for this year’s Senior Bowl have remained the same at just $24
and $18 for sideline seats, and $12 for seats in the end zone. Tickets
can currently be purchased online through the bowl’s website or by
calling the Senior Bowl ticket office at 432-4109.
“We were very pleased to once again be
able to keep our ticket prices the same this year, which we feel offer
our ticket purchasers a tremendous value,” said Hale. “Our fans also
have the added convenience of purchasing their seats online through our
website.”
Each of the last 13 Senior Bowl games have
been sellouts in 40,646-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Annually featuring the nation’s top senior
collegiate football stars and NFL draft prospects on teams coached by
NFL coaching staffs, Senior Bowl Week is also attended by over 700 NFL
coaches, scouts and other front office personnel from the NFL each year.
The contest will be nationally televised
by the NFL Network for the second straight year, which will also air
pre-game and post-game shows on Senior Bowl Saturday. The NFL Network
will also televise Senior Bowl practices from Ladd-Peebles Stadium
throughout the week, giving Mobile and the Senior Bowl extensive
national television exposure during the week.
