Schedule Of Events]

MOBILE,
Ala. (November 27, 2007) -- The future best of the NFL.
It’s what the Under Armour Senior Bowl is
all about, as the nation’s best senior collegiate football stars, top
NFL draft prospects and future NFL greats will converge on Mobile from
January 19-26, 2008, for Senior Bowl Week 2008.
Bowl officials announced on Tuesday the
complete 2008 Senior Bowl game week schedule, a week once again loaded
with special events and fan activities, most of which fans will be able
to attend free of charge.
The week will be capped off by the 59th
annual Under Armour Senior Bowl game, which will kickoff in Ladd-Peebles
Stadium at 3:00 p.m. on January 26, 2008.
“The Senior Bowl is an event like nothing
else, and while we are always committed to bringing the top NFL draft
prospects and future NFL stars each year to Mobile, we also seek to get
as many people as possible in our community involved in the Senior Bowl
through free fan events and by offering affordable ticket prices to the
game,” said Senior Bowl President Steve Hale.
Currently, over 575 former Senior Bowl
players are active in the NFL, a group of marquee performers that
includes each of the last two NFL MVP’s in running backs Shaun Alexander
of the Seahawks and LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers, each of the
last two NFL Defensive Players of the Year in linebackers Jason Taylor
of the Dolphins and Brian Urlacher of the Bears, future Hall of Famers,
24 players who made last year’s NFL Pro Bowl and many of the league’s
premier rookie stars of 2007.
In addition to featuring the nation’s best
NFL draft prospects and hosting over 800 coaches and scouts from the
NFL, other Senior Bowl 2008 game week highlights will include player
practices that will be held at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for the fourth
straight year.
Practices will once again be free and open
to the public, offering fans the unique opportunity to see those top
draft prospects in action, as well as the hundreds of National Football
League coaches and scouts in Mobile during Senior Bowl Week.
Practices will also be televised by the
Senior Bowl’s national media partner, the NFL Network.
The practice venue has been very popular
with fans, as the stadium offers a convenient location for fans
throughout the Mobile area, plenty of free parking, and outstanding
sight lines in the stadium seating area from which to view practice.
Fans on the Eastern Shore will also have
the opportunity to see a Senior Bowl practice, as the South will hold
its Monday afternoon practice session at Fairhope Municipal Stadium, an
event which will be designated as Eastern Shore Day and feature a host
of special activities in conjunction with the event.
On Friday, January 25, two of the most
popular events held during Senior Bowl Week – the annual Food World
Senior Bowl Fan Frenzy and Coca-Cola Meet the Players Event -- will take
place at the Mobile Convention Center. The events will give fans the
chance to meet this year’s Senior Bowl players, and also feature food,
entertainment and interactive games in a one-of-a-kind football fan
extravaganza. Admission will once again be free for all attendees.
Game Week 2008 will officially kickoff
with the annual Food World Senior Bowl Sailing Regatta in the waters of
Mobile Bay on January 19, and also include the Chick-Fil-A Fellowship of
Christian Athletes Rally on Wednesday, January 23; the Senior Bowl Hall
of Fame induction ceremony, presented by Mobile Gas and Regions Bank, at
the Country Club of Mobile on Friday, January 25; as well as the game’s
legendary NFL and sponsor hospitality events throughout the week at the
Mobile Convention Center in downtown Mobile.
Game day festivities will kickoff with the
giant Food World Tailgate Party in the Ladd-Peebles Stadium parking lot
from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., which ranks as one of America’s largest free
tailgate parties with over 3,500 fans. Fans will also be able to
participate in the fourth annual Baumhower’s Wings Restaurant Tailgate
Challenge in the stadium parking lot prior to the game.
This year’s Senior Bowl pre-game and
halftime shows, presented by State Farm Insurance, will feature the
University of Alabama Million Dollar Band and cheerleaders from the
NFL’s New Orleans Saints, and will begin at 2:30 p.m., while the 59th
annual Under Armour Senior Bowl game, which will also be televised by
the NFL Network, will feature a 3:00 p.m. kickoff for the fourth
straight year.
“Our fans have responded so favorably to
the late afternoon kickoffs that we’ve had in recent years,” said Hale.
“The three o’clock kickoff this year will once again allow our fans
plenty of time to enjoy all of the special pre-game activities and
events, while also offering the convenience of having the contest finish
early in the evening.”
Ticket prices for this year’s game have
remained the same for the seventh straight year at just $24, $18 and $12
and can be purchased at all area Food World stores, selected Regions
Bank locations or through the bowl’s website at
www.seniorbowl.com. Individuals
who purchase tickets at Food World stores will also receive a free
ticket to the Food World Tailgate Party on game day.
Each of the last 13 Senior Bowl games have
been sellouts.
So come see the future at the 2008 Under
Armour Senior Bowl, as the nation’s best senior football players and
future NFL stars, over 800 NFL coaches and scouts, the Alabama Million
Dollar Band, New Orleans Saints Saintsations and thousands of fans will
come together for a football experience like nothing else.
