Under Armour Senior Bowl To
Feature Tulane's 2,000-Yard Rusher Forte
Record-setting back
rushed for 2,127 yards in 2007 the seventh highest single season total
in NCAA history.
 MOBILE, Ala. (December
5, 2007) -- Tulanes Matt Forte, one of the most prolific rushers in
NCAA history whose 2,127 yards in 2007 is the seventh highest single
season total ever recorded in major college football, has accepted an
invitation to play in the 2008 Under Armour Senior Bowl, bowl officials
announced on Wednesday.
Forte became just the 12th major college
running back to gain over 2,000 yards in a season during a spectacular
senior campaign which saw him rush for over 200 yards five times
including a 342-yard, four touchdown record-setter against SMU.
That total established new school and
Conference USA single game marks and was also his second 300-yard
rushing game of the season, as he rushed for 303 yards and set a school
record with five touchdowns earlier in the year against Southeastern
Louisiana.

Forte finished the season ranked second
nationally in rushing yards and yards per game with 177.25, and also
scored a school-record 23 touchdowns.
The 6-2, 223-pounder from Slidell, La.,
was also a first-team All-CUSA selection who shattered the Tulane single
season rushing mark of 1,421 set by former Senior Bowler and current
Minnesota Vikings running back Mewelde Moore in 2001.
A two-time Walter Camp National Offensive
Player of the Week honoree, Forte posted five of the top ten single game
rushing performances in school history in 2007 which included an amazing
four-game stretch in the middle of the season during which he rushed for
1,031 yards with 202 against Army, 209 against UAB, 342 vs. SMU and 278
against Memphis.

Bowl, set for January 26, can be purchased at all area Food World
