Thirty-Two Former Senior Bowlers Selected For
2008 NFL Pro Bowl

Recent roster additions give Under Armour Senior Bowl more players in
annual all-star contest than ever before.

MOBILE, Ala. (February 7, 2008) -- Fans watching Sunday’s NFL Pro Bowl game in Hawaii will have the opportunity to see more former Senior Bowl players than ever before.

When the original rosters for this year’s contest were announced back in December, 25 former Senior Bowl players were named to the AFC and NFC squads, a list that included the likes of quarterback Brett Favre of the Packers, the NFL’s leading rusher in LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers, and the league’s leading tackler in 2007, rookie linebacker Patrick Willis of the 49ers.

However, seven more Senior Bowl players have been added to the rosters since that time after several players elected not to play in the contest due to injuries or other personal factors.

New Senior Bowlers named to the rosters since that initial announcement include running back Fred Taylor of the Jaguars, wide receiver Chad Johnson of the Bengals, and offensive linemen Chad Clifton of the Packers and Marcus McNeill of the Chargers.

Defensively, Senior Bowl Pro Bowl additions include defensive linemen Trent Cole of the Eagles and Darnell Dockett of the Cardinals and linebacker Greg Ellis of the Cowboys.

In 2007, 578 former Senior Bowl players were on the opening day rosters of the 32 NFL teams. In addition to Favre, Tomlinson and Willis, Senior Bowl alums in the NFL in 2007 also included the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in safety Bob Sanders of the Colts, the NFL’s leading pass receiver in Reggie Wayne of the Colts, the NFL’s leading scorer in kicker Mason Crosby of the Packers and running back Brian Westbrook of the Eagles, who led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage in 2007.
