Odom Wins Senior Bowl
Superstar Competition

student Catherine Odom will sing the National Anthem prior to the 2008
Under Armour Senior Bowl game.
 MOBILE, Ala. (January
14, 2008) -- Catherine Odom, a 19-year-old student at the University
of Mobile, has been named the Senior Bowl Superstar for 2008.
Odom, a native of St. Stephens, Ala.,
earned the Superstar title by placing first among three finalists during
online voting held this past weekend on the Senior Bowl and WKRG-TV
websites.
She will now have the unique opportunity
to sing the national anthem prior to the 2008 Under Armour Senior Bowl
football game, a performance which will also be aired on national
television by the NFL Network.
Other finalists were Elizabeth Mariah
Carey, a nine-year-old from Prichard, Ala., and Shannon Rankins, a
29-year-old from Mobile.

Over 8,500 votes were cast during the
three days of Superstar voting, which began at 10:00 a.m. on Friday,
January 11 and continued until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, January 13.
The talented trio of finalists was
selected during preliminary competition held on Saturday, January 5, at
the Mobile Civic Center Theater. Each appeared on the WKRG-TV morning
show last week, singing the national anthem as well as a song of their
own choosing.
“I would like to thank all of this year’s
Superstar competitors and congratulate Catherine, our Senior Bowl
Superstar for 2008,” said Senior Bowl Sales and Marketing Director Chris
Morgan. “We had an outstanding group of talented participants, which
enabled us to select three finalists, each of whom would have done an
excellent job of singing the national anthem prior to this year’s game.”
This year’s Under Armour Senior Bowl is
scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 2008.
“We were also very pleased with the
turnout that we had during our online voting, which once again shows the
tremendous interest that was generated for Senior Bowl Superstar
throughout the community,” said Morgan.
The fifth annual Senior Bowl Superstar was
a talent competition in which area singers competed for the opportunity
to sing the national anthem prior to this year’s Senior Bowl.
