The Food World Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership
Donations in 2007 increased Partnership’s impressive amount of charitable giving to over $4.2 million.

Running in the Food World Senior Bowl Charity Run allows you to help not just one, but many great causes, as proceeds from the event go to the Food World-Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership which has donated over $4.2 million to Gulf Coast area charities.

The Food World – Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership’s mission is to raise funds for charities whose services, activities or programs benefit youth and youth-related activities along the Gulf Coast.

Organizations receiving donations in 2006-2007 included the USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital, Mercy Medical, Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Pensacola, Mobile YMCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Pre-School for the Sensory Impaired, Mobile Association for Retarded Citizens, Drug Education Council, Child Advocacy Center, Pensacola Boys and Girls Clubs, Mobile Association for the Blind, Special Olympics and three Mobile arts organizations – the Mobile Symphony, Opera and Ballet.

Charity Run Highlights and Features For 2007

  • Events For Everyone!
     

  • Race To Feature 10K, 5K and One-Mile Fun Run Events
    -- The Food World Senior Bowl Charity Run is once again excited to offer events for participants at all levels of running fitness and ages. This year, the Charity Run will offer a 10K Run, a 5K Run/Walk and a One-Mile Fun Run/Walk events. The 5K event starts at the same place and time as the 10K run, and all three events finish at the same location on Government Street at Royal in downtown Mobile.
     

  • Healthy Families, Healthy Kids Fun Run
    -- The Food World Senior Bowl Charity Run is proud to promote health and fitness throughout the Gulf Coast with the Healthy Families, Healthy Kids Fun Run. The race, which features over 3,000 registrants will be one-mile in distance, seeks to get families and kids involved in an organized road race. Join the Fun!

 

  • Long-sleeve Race T-shirts and Runner Perks
    -- All participating runners will receive the race’s popular 100 percent cotton long-sleeve race T-shirt. The shirt is included in your $12 (advance) entry fee. All runners also gain free admittance to the Post-Race Family Festival, and the first 1,000 registered runners may attend the Whitney Bank Pasta Party free of charge.

  • Free Whitney Bank Pasta Party
    -- Open to the first 1,000 registered runners and held in the ballroom of the Mobile Convention Center, this year’s party will once again feature a fabulous menu and live entertainment!
     

  • Free Food World Family Fun Festival
    -- The most generous Post-Race Event in the South, held in the Mobile Convention Center following the race featuring plenty of food, musical entertainment, children’s activities and interactives and much more!
     

  • Fastest Family Competition
    -- In addition to the age group awards that will be presented to the top finishers in the 10K and 5K events, the Charity Run will also hold a special “Fastest Family” competition in both races. Winners will be determined based on the lowest combined times of the top three finishers for each family, and there will be two categories in each event: Under 18 (families with at least one scoring member under the age of 18) and Over 18 (all scoring family members are 18 or older).
     

  • Lightning Fast Courses With Great Support
    --The 10K and 5K races start on Government Street in downtown Mobile and also finish on Government Street just one block from the Mobile Convention Center, site of the Post-Race Family Festival. The new Fun Run course starts on Church Street and also finishes at the same location at the 10K and 5K races. Runners will enjoy live entertainment and other special features along the courses.
     

  • Help Raise Thousands For Gulf Coast Charities
    -- All participating runners will help the Food World – Senior Bowl Charitable Partnership achieve its goals of raising thousands of dollars for Gulf Coast charities each. Since its inception, over $4.2 million has been raised for area charities by the successful partnership.
     

  • Awards to Top Finishers
    -- Special awards will be distributed to the top finishers in both the 10K and 5K events. Fun Run winners will also be recognized during the 2007 Senior Bowl football game.

Events, Activities & Fun For Everyone!

  • Whitney Bank Pasta Party
    Mobile Convention Center
    Friday, November 2, 6:30 p.m.
     
    Enjoy all the fun at this all-you-can-eat party featuring a variety of menu items including pasta, salad, desserts and beverages, musical entertainment and more! Event is free to the first 1,000 registered runners. Guests are $5 each.
       
  • Charity Run 10K and 5K Races
    Saturday, November 3
    Both races will start at 8:30 a.m.
    START: Government at Hamilton Street
    FINISH: Government at Royal Street
     
  • Healthy Families, Healthy Kids Fun Run
    One-Mile Distance
    Saturday, November 3
    10:00 a.m.
    START: Church Street at Royal Street
    FINISH: Government at Royal Street
     
  • Food World Family Fun Festival
    Mobile Convention Center
    9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
     
    All race participants, their families and friends can enjoy the most generous post-race event in the South free of charge featuring all-you-can-eat-and-drink jambalaya, fresh fruit, yogurt, hot dogs, beverages, musical entertainment, interactive events and a special children’s area.


General Info & Deadlines

  • Entry Fee
    Still only $12 per runner and $20 on the day of the race – One-Mile Fun Run only. There will be no 10K or 5K day of race registration. Entry fee includes the race’s popular 100 percent cotton long sleeve T-shirt and free admittance to the Food World Family Fun Festival after the race.
     

  • Fastest Family & Team Competitions
    Fastest family and team competitions will be held in conjunction with this year’s 10K and 5K events. There is no additional charge to register. Families may use any combination of members – fathers, mothers, grandparents, children, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Team competition categories include corporate, open, church and schools.

  • Mail-In and Walk-In Registration
    Registration accepted by mail through Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Completed entry forms and fees will also be accepted at all ten Whitney Bank branches in Mobile and Baldwin Counties and Uncle Joe’s Running Store in McCoy’s Outdoor through Wednesday, October 31. Runners may also register at race headquarters during race week.
     

  • Online Registration
     

     
    A processing fee will be added to online entries. Online registration accepted through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, October 31.
     

  • 10K and 5K Registration
    Runners must indicate on their registration form which race they will run. Runners will be given race numbers specific to each race and will not be allowed to change races following their registration. Runners who participate in the event for which they are not registered will be disqualified.
     

  • Race Headquarters
    Race headquarters beginning Thursday, November 1 during race week will located on the second level of the Mobile Convention Center, One S. Water Street, in downtown Mobile. Prior to November 1, race headquarters will be the Senior Bowl office, 63 S. Royal Street, in downtown Mobile. The phone number for race headquarters is 251-438-2276.
     

  • Course Support
    Water and electrolyte replacement will be available at three stations along the 10K course and two stations on the 5K course, as well as at the start and finish of all races. Clocks will be stationed at every mile. Medical teams will be at the start, finish and along the course.
     

  • Top Finisher Awards
    The Charity Run will be present awards to the top five finishers in 17 age divisions for both men and women in the 10K and 5K races. Top overall, masters and grandmasters finishers in both races will also be awarded special trophies. Fun Run winners will also receive special awards.
     

  • Age Group Breakdown

    Male and Female: 9 and under, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-18, 19-24 25-29 30-34 35-39 40-44 45-49 50-54 55-59 60-64 65-69 70 and over.

  • Healthy Families, Healthy Kids Fun Run
    A special one-mile Fun Run promoting health and fitness for families and kids will be held at 10:00 a.m. The first three male and first three female finishers will receive awards and the winners will be introduced at the 2008 Senior Bowl football game! Ribbons will be presented to all Fun Run finishers.
      

  • School Program
    A special program is once again being offered to school children of participating schools in Mobile and Baldwin Counties to represent their school by taking part in the Healthy Families, Healthy Kids Fun Run, 10K and 5K races. Entry forms for the school program may be obtained from the schools only. Registration at the special rate of $8 is limited to students and $10 for parents and teachers from each school.  Students and parents should contact their schools for more information.
     

  • Results
    Barring unforeseen data processing problems, complete 10K and 5K results will be posted on the Senior Bowl website at www.seniorbowl.com Saturday afternoon.
     

  • Free Parking
    Free parking in the Water Street Garage, across from the Convention Center (site of the Post-Race Family Festival and Awards Ceremony) will be available on race day only. Just show your official run number as you exit.
     

  • Locker/Change Rooms
    Runners needing locker room facilities either before or after the race may use the facilities at the Downtown YMCA, 101 N. Water Street, free of charge.
