Under Armour Senior Bowl Day 4 Recap
Mobile, AL. (Jan. 28)---The fourth day of practice for the nation's top senior college football players is complete as players worked out in shorts and helmets at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in preparation for Saturday's Under Armour Senior Bowl.
As has been the system all week, the North team took the field in the morning to finalize preparations for Saturday's game. Finishing touches and special teams were emphasized in the Thursday morning practice. Quarterbacks were also given the opportunity to showcase their red-zone decision making skills and gave North Head Coach Jim Schwartz of the Detroit Lions something to think about when picking his starting quarterback.
"All these guys are good players. All these guys deserve to play, and they're all going to play. Whoever starts or whoever finishes has nothing to do with anything other than paper-covers-rock."
For the South, it was a similar story as Head Coach Tony Sparano and the staff from the Miami Dolphins looked for consistency from all areas of the team. Sparano also stressed the importance of this game to his players.
"I just know that (the Senior Bowl) is a great evaluator for our league. To get to see them compete at this level and see them practice all week is really a good evaluator. At the end of this whole thing, the mental thing is important and how they play is pretty important too."
Both squads will take the field one more time on Friday to go through walkthroughs to finalize game plans and situations. The practice schedule will be changed slightly with the North team starting practice at 9:30 am and the South taking the field directly after at 10:30 am. All practices are free and open to the public and televised by NFL Network.
The 2010 Under Armour Senior Bowl is scheduled for Saturday, January 30th at 3pm (CT) in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game is a sellout and will be televised live on NFL Network.
