Football for Women

Senior Bowl hosts Women's Clinic

Thu, May 30, 2013

MOBILE, AL -- Ever wonder what's really going on between the lines during a football game? Perhaps you are looking for some new and creative tailgating ideas. Or, maybe curious what will be the hot 'look' for the upcoming football season?

If you are -- and you are a female -- then the Senior Bowl has an answer for you. To all three questions. It's the first-ever 'Girls of Fall: Food, Fashion and Fun.'  It's a one-of-a-kind 'clinic' hosted by the Senior Bowl and AL.com, set for Thursday, August 22 in downtown Mobile.

The event is designed to give women an inside look at the rules of the game, the strategy behind the X’s and O’s, tailgating and party tips and the most up-to-date clothing looks for the upcoming season. The cost will be $20 for each participant with all proceeds going to Senior Bowl charities.

"I think the one real objective is for the women to pick up on some of the terminology and some of the nuiances of the game, in terms of offensive and defensive strategy, formations, the structure of an offense and defense," said Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage, who will handle the football portion of the evening. "I think they'll come away from this really knowing a lot more than they did beforehand and hopefully they'll be able to pop a question or two on their husband or boyfriend and really suprise them in terms of what they get out of the night."

The event will go from 6:00pm-8:30pm at the Mobile Convention Center.

“Our expectation is that this will become a must-attend event to kick off every football season in the future,” said Savage.
