MOBILE, AL -- Getting drafted in the NFL is only one part of the 'process.' Making an NFL club is even more difficult, but 83 former Senior Bowlers made the final cut over the weekend as NFL teams revealed their 53-man rosters.
Six players from the North did not make a roster as of Monday, Sept. 2 (RB Robbie Rouse/Fresno St., TE Ryan Otten/San Jose St., OC Joe Madsen/West Virginia, LB Travis Johnson/San Jose St. and two specialists, PK Quinn Sharp/Oklahoma St. and LS Luke Ingram/Hawaii).
The Senior Bowl North squad landed 44 players on NFL rosters, with one player (Ty Powell/Harding) headed to the practice squad and two others (Alec Lemon/Syracuse and Phillip Thomas/Fresno St.) put on injured reserve.
The South squad put 38 players on NFL rosters, eight on practice squads and three (Michael Williams/Alabama, Corey Grissom/South Florida, Phillip Steward/Houston) to injured reserve. Only two players (Chase Thomas/Stanford and Connor Verson/Duke) didn't make a roster and one (B.J. Scott/South Alabama) signed with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes.
