Mobile Arts & Sports Association Announces the Retirement of Board Chairman Angus R. Cooper II
MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Arts & Sports Association (MASA), the parent organization of the Senior Bowl, today announced a leadership transition at the Board level. After 14 years of service as Chairman, Angus R. Cooper II will step down from his role. He will be succeeded by his son, Scott Cooper, who currently serves as President of the MASA.
During his tenure, Angus R. Cooper II provided steady leadership through some of the most pivotal moments in Senior Bowl history. He was instrumental in ensuring the game’s continued home in Mobile, Alabama, at a time when outside interests sought to move elsewhere. Under his guidance, the Senior Bowl secured the longest consecutive Title Sponsorship in Reese’s, celebrated a historic 75th Anniversary, navigated leadership transitions with multiple Executive Directors, and most recently welcomed a new Title Sponsorship with Panini America. Thanks to his vision and commitment, the Senior Bowl not only safeguarded its legacy but also strengthened its standing as the nation’s premier college football all-star game.
“It has been an honor to lead the Mobile Arts & Sports Association and work alongside such a dedicated team,” said Angus R. Cooper II. “As I step aside, we have every confidence that Scott [Cooper] will continue to build on our legacy and guide our organization to an even brighter future.”

Players leave Mobile better prepared for the league and that’s a direct reflection of Angus' leadership and dedication."
Statement from Roman Oben, NFL Vice President of Football Development
“As a former Senior Bowl participant and now in my role as the NFL’s liaison to the game, I’ve seen firsthand how important this event is in shaping futures and strengthening the bridge between college and professional football. Angus Cooper’s leadership ensured that this platform not only remained in Mobile but also grew in stature as the premier college all-star game. His impact will be felt for years to come, and the NFL looks forward to continuing our close collaboration under Scott Cooper’s leadership.”
Statement from Mayor Sandy Stimpson
“Angus Cooper II has been an incredible advocate for the Senior Bowl and for Mobile. His leadership and dedication have been instrumental in ensuring that the Senior Bowl not only remained in Mobile but also continued to grow as one of the premier events in football. Through his professional contributions and personal relationships within the NFL, he has strengthened the game and helped make Mobile an indispensable part of this annual celebration of college football. We are grateful for his years of service to the Senior Bowl and to our community.”
As MASA President since 2023, Scott Cooper has overseen the game’s annual Hall of Fame & Golf Tournament, the Mobile Baldwin Athletic Partnership, Senior Bowl membership programs and leads the Senior Bowl Advisory Board. As Chairman, he will continue to drive MASA’s mission of giving back to the local community while ensuring the Senior Bowl remains the nation’s premier all-star game.
“I am humbled and honored to step into the role of Chairman and follow in my father’s footsteps,” said Scott Cooper. “His vision and leadership have shaped where we are today. I look forward to working with our Board, leadership team, and staff to continue delivering for our community, committee, sponsors, NFL personnel, players and fans.”
