24 more players named to 2014 roster

Twenty four more players were named to the 2014 Reese's Senior Bowl roster on Monday. That puts the announced total at 72. The game is expected to name 110 players to the roster, 55 on the South and 55 on the North.

The 65th Reese's Senior Bowl will be played January 25, 2014, in Mobile, AL. The 24 players named on Monday:

Mike Campanaro | WR | Wake Forest

Two-time All-ACC wide receiver (2nd team) … recovering from a broken collarbone in November, but before the injury became the school’s all-time leading pass catcher … averaged 113 yards per game.

Mike Davis | WR | Texas

Ranked as top senior WR by NFL media analyst Gil Brandt … finished regular season with 49 receptions, 715 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Ahmad Dixon |S | Baylor

Three-time All-Big 12 honoree … first-team selection in 2013 after recording 70 tackles (2 for loss), 7 pass breakups and an interception.

SJSU QB Fales is 3rd in FBS in passing yards.

David Fales | QB | San Jose State

Intriguing prospect who threw for 547 yards and 6 TD vs. fellow Reese’s Senior Bowl QB Derek Carr … third in FBS with 4,189 yards and tied for sixth with Johnny Manziel for most TDs (33) and tied Carr for most 300+ passing yard games (9) in the Mountain West Conference. 

James Gayle | DE | Virginia Tech

Third team All-ACC, led his team with 33 hurries, also adding 39 tackles (10 for loss) and 5.5 sacks.

Ra’Shede Hageman | DT | Minnesota

The 6’6”, 311-pound lineman benches 465 pounds, squats 500 pounds yet has a 36-inch vertical leap.

Taylor Hart | DT | Oregon

Second-team All-Pac-12 selection, recorded 64 tackles (40 solo) and five tackles for loss, including 3 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.

Ryan Hewitt | FB | Stanford

At 6’4”, 246 pounds is one of the top blocking backs in the nation.

Josh Huff | WR | Oregon

Honorable mention All-Pac-12, with 57 receptions for 1,036 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2013. Has 23 career touchdowns at Oregon, fourth-most among receivers in school history.

Jeff Janis | WR | Saginaw Valley State

His 83 receptions for 1,572 yards and 14 touchdowns were among the best in D-II … only the second player from his school to receive an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Stanley Jean-Baptist | CB | Nebraska

Second-team All-Big 12 selection, had four interceptions (returned for a total of 134 yards and a TD), and 11 pass breakups.

Christian Kirksey | LB| Iowa

Honorable mention All-Big 10, racked up 97 tackles (4 for loss), 1.5 sacks, forced and recovered two fumbles.

Stephen Morris | QB | Miami

Ranked third in school history in career passing yards (7,736) and touchdown passes (49). Is 132 yards shy of becoming only second Miami player to throw for 3,000 in multiple seasons.

Michael Sam | DE/OLB | Missouri

A Walter Camp first-team All-American and SEC Defensive Player of the Year (AP, Coaches), All-SEC first team selection led the conference in sacks (10.5) and tackles for loss (18).

Jalen Saunders | WR | Oklahoma

Caught game-winning TD in final seconds vs. rival Oklahoma State … second team All-Big 12 selection after catching 56 passes for 654 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2013. Dangerous returner, averaging 16.8 yards per punt return with 2 TD this season.

Shamar Stephen | DT | Connecticut

Second team all-conference, 60 tackles (10 for loss), 3 sacks in 2013.

Smith is one of four players on roster named his conference defensive player of year.

Marcus Smith | OLB | Louisville

American Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Walter Camp second team All-American and a first-team All-American Conference selection … 16.5 tackles for a loss in 2013 and his 12.5 sacks are second in the nation.

Telvin Smith | OLB | Florida State

Second team All-ACC selection after leading the unbeaten ‘Noles in tackles (75). Had 9.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 interceptions.

Will Sutton | DT |Arizona State

Two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year (2012, 2013) … 44 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks and an INT .. consensus All-American in 2012.

Brandon Thomas | OT | Clemson

Second Team All-ACC, outstanding pass blocker.

Logan Thomas | QB | Virginia Tech (video available)

6’6”, 254lbs. Holds school record for career consecutive starts for a quarterback, total offense, career passing touchdowns, career passing completions and attempts and career rushing TDs for a quarterback.

Billy Turner | OT | North Dakota State

The anchor on the offensive line for the two-time defending FCS Champs.  FCS All-American is punishing blocker at any level.

Kyle Van Noy | LB | BYU

Bednarik, Butkus, Lombardi and Lott IMPACT Award semifinalist, second team Walter Camp All-American.  Made 62 tackles (16 for loss), 4 sacks and intercepted four passes and is leader of BYU defense.

Jason Verrett | CB | TCU

Walter Camp first team All-American, Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Big 12 after making 39 tackles (3.5 for loss), 14 pass breakups and 2 INT.
