Scouts flock to South Dakota, Hawai'i

J.T. Barrett is back in the Heisman discussion after the 39-38 comeback win against Penn State and was the Reese's Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week, but the consensus seems to be that he is not a top senior quarterback prospect.
SCOUT: "Think we can agree that he's not a top-caliber quarterback prospect but you have to give J.T. Barrett a ton of credit for what he's done since that Oklahoma game. That performance against Penn State almost makes you want to like him more."
Utah got beat by Oregon 41-20, but former Duck WR Darren Carrington had 9 catches for 130 yards. However, he was kept out of the end zone. His character grades are going to affect his draft stock.
SCOUT: "Think there was some extra fire there for him to play against Oregon and he balled out again. Talent-wise, he's a no-brainer, but there's just so much baggage there with a bunch of different things."
NEW HOT SPOT: SOUTH DAKOTA
NFL scouts have been going to South Dakota to see the Jackrabbits program with tight end Dallas Goedert and receiver Jake Wieneke as their top two senior prospects. Reese's Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage visited the Jackrabbits this preseason.
SCOUT: "Will you go to South Dakota State? They have two guys that we definitely want to see after the season."
UTSA DE Marcus Davenport has gained a lot buzz this season and has 4.5 sacks in his last three games. His 6-foot-7 frame has bulked up to 265 pounds and opposing coaches have also told the Reese's Senior Bowl that he is a legitimate beast.
QUOTE: "Have you seen the UTSA D-end? He's a guy that should definitely be in your game."
NOT IN THE BUDGET, BUT...
Not sure if it's in the Reese's Senior Bowl budget to go to Hawaii, but even the NFL scouts are scurrying to the games the Warriors are playing on the mainlands to get a look at safety Trayvon Henderson and offensive tackle Dejon Allen. Henderson most recently recorded 8 tackles and a sack against San Diego State and plays at UNLV in Vegas this week.
SCOUT: "Between the safety and the offensive lineman, there's some talent there. They have a linebacker there for next year too."
