Michel wins in first appearance at Charity Run

MOBILE, Ala. (Nov. 3) -- Alex Michel had never run in the Senior Bowl Charity Run. He made the most of his first apperance.

The 19-year-old Florida State student from Tampa, Fla., ran away from the field in the 10K to win in 36:17, nearly three minutes ahead of the next runner on Saturday in downtown Mobile.

Arthur Cronenberg, 42, of Mobile, finished second behind Michel in 36:17 and Daphne's Cody Parker was third (36:25).

The fourth place finisher overall was the top female runner, Samantha Gardner of Daphne, who won for the second straight year and third time (2013). She finished in 37:40.

The 31st Annual Charity Run was presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and Wells Fargo.

William McQueen, 20, of Mobile was the 5k winner, finishing in 18:07 (5:51 mile), finishing 14 seconds ahead of 15-year-old Grant Cox of Mobile. Rahin

Andrus, 11, of Semmes, finished third overall in 20:36.

Lauren Peabody of Mobile was the top female finisher in 23:07.
