Smith emerging as WR threat for Saints

Wed, Nov 21, 2018

MOBILE, Ala. -- Tre'Quan Smith had not had more than three receptions in a single game until week 11. Sunday, in a rout of the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles, Smith exploded for 10 catches, 157 yards and a touchdown.

The 2018 Senior Bowler had 12 catches heading into the game. He nearly matched that on Sunday. He now has 22 receptions for 371 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie campaign.

"Obviously, this was a huge night for him," said Saints QB Drew Brees.

"(Drew) was like, 'Why do you think I threw you the ball? I trust you,'" Smith said. "And [being] a rookie, that just made me so happy inside."

Other standouts:

Aaron Donald | DT | LA Rams
2014 Reese's Senior Bowl
He could be on this list every week. He could probably win this award every week. Monday night, in the offensive shootout for the ages, Donald was a disruptive force yet again. He forced two fumbles, both leading to touchdowns for the Rams. He leads the NFL in sacks (12.5) and quarterback pressures.

David Johnson | RB | Cardinals
2015 Reese's Senior Bowl

Johnson picked up his first 100-yard rushing game of the season (137 yards on 25 attempts).

Previous winners: Philip Rivers (Chargers), Kirk Cousins (Redskins), Darius Leonard (Colts), Cooper Kupp (Rams), Baker Mayfield (Browns), Za'Darius Smith (Ravens), Aaron Donald (Rams), Dee Ford (Chiefs)
