The Wells Fargo Senior Bowl Charity Run School Program gives money back to area schools |
Since its inception 60 years ago, the Senior Bowl and its parent organization the Mobile Arts and Sports Association have donated more than $7.7 million to several different charities along the Gulf Coast.
The Senior Bowl is able to give back to area charities through the game and its other ancillary events like the Wells Fargo Senior Bowl Charity Run. It is important to note that a vast majority of the charities that benefit from the Senior Bowl's charitable giving are organizations that directly impact area youth along the Gulf Coast.
"Whether it's through our popular school rebate program in the Charity Run or through a monetary donation to a Gulf Coast charity, the Senior Bowl and Mobile Arts and Sports Association feel very strongly about supporting organizations that benefit local children," said Senior Bowl President and CEO Steve Hale.
Over the years some of the charities to benefit from the Senior Bowl's contributions include the Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama, Child Advocacy Center, Special Olympics and the University of South Alabama Children's & Women's Hospital. In fact, each year several Senior Bowl players take time out of their busy schedules to visit patients at the USA Children's & Women's Hospital—a highlight for both the players and patients.
