Week 6 Games to Watch

#4 Penn State at Northwestern, Noon on ABC
Penn State hasn’t won at Ryan Field since 2011 but the way the Lions are playing on both sides of the ball makes them a big favorite. Penn State is outscoring opponents 73-0 in the first quarter and the defense leads the Big Ten giving up just 9.4 points per game. Northwestern QB Clayton Thorson completed a career-high 29 passes last week and might be throwing it a lot again if the Wildcats fall behind and don’t get Justin Jackson going.
Matchups to watch:
-PSU LB Jason Cabinda vs. Northwestern RB Justin Jackson
-PSU TE Mike Gesicki vs. Northwestern SS Godwin Igwebuike

#23 West Virginia at #8 TCU, 3:30pm on Fox Sports 1
The TCU defense is the story this year. Last year the Horned Frogs gave up four touchdown passes to Skyler Howard in a 34-10 loss in Morgantown. Now WVU is upgraded at QB with Will Grier and David Sills leads the nation in touchdown receptions. While freshman RB Darius Anderson has become a star, TCU is also expected to get Kyle Hicks back. Whichever QB limits the turnovers will win this game.
Matchups to watch:
-WVU WR Ka’Raun White vs. TCU CB Ranthony Texada
-WVU RB Justin Crawford vs. TCU LB Travin Howard
-WVU LB Al-Rasheed Benton vs. TCU RB Darius Anderson

#13 Miami at Florida State, 3:30pm on ESPN
Florida State’s 7-year winning streak over Miami is in jeopardy as the Noles are an underdog at home. Miami is another team with a good defensive line that can give FSU trouble up front. Florida State’s defense should keep it in the game. This could be a lower-scoring close finish.
Matchups to watch:
-Miami DE Chad Thomas/Trent Harris vs. FSU OT Rick Leonard
-Miami WR Ahmmon Richards vs. FSU CB Tarvarus McFadden
-Miami CB Dee Delaney vs. FSU WR Auden Tate
-Miami TE Chris Herndon vs. FSU SLB Jacob Pugh

LSU at #21 Florida, 3:30pm on CBS
LSU got gashed by Troy last week giving up 6.4 yards per carry to Jordan Chunn. The Gators offensive line has been playing well and Malik Davis and Lamical Perine have been good running the ball. Florida will be without top WR Tyrie Cleveland but it may not matter if the Gators establish the run.
Matchups to watch:
-LSU OLB Arden Key vs. Florida OT Martez Ivey
-LSU WR DJ Chark vs. Florida CB Duke Dawson
-LSU OT KJ Malone vs. Florida DE Cece Jefferson/Jordan Sherit
-LSU C Will Clapp vs. Florida DT Taven Bryan
-LSU LB Donnie Alexander vs. Florida RB Lamical Perine/Malik Davis

Air Force at Navy, 3:30pm on CBS Sports Network
It’s a revenge game for Navy trying to reclaim the Commander-in-Chief Trophy. The Falcons are struggling after its trip to Ann Arbor and gave up 56 points to New Mexico’s spread option offense last week. Navy QB Zach Abey has 656 rushing yards in just four games this year.
Matchups to watch:
-Air Force CB Marquis Griffin vs. Navy WR Tyler Carmona

Maryland at #10 Ohio State, 4pm on FOX
Maryland is an ever-improving program under D.J. Durkin. Can the Terps keep pace with Ohio State yet? Ty Johnson is averaging 8.9 yards per carry and he’ll be the focus of the Buckeyes. Maryland beat Minnesota on the road last week with third string QB Max Bortenschlager.
Matchups to watch:
-Maryland NT Kingsley Opara vs. Ohio State C Billy Price
-Maryland RB Ty Johnson vs. Ohio State LB Chris Worley-Maryland LB Jermaine Carter vs. Ohio State RB Mike Weber/J.K. Dobbins

#1 Alabama at Texas A&M, 7:15pm on ESPN
Alabama is pretty much a four-point touchdown favorite. The Aggies haven’t beaten the Tide in College Station yet. No one has run for 100 yards on Alabama yet this season. Can Kellen Mond pull off the theatrics with his legs and arm to make this a game?
Matchups to watch:
-Alabama CB Anthony Averett/Levi Wallace vs. TAMU WR Christian Kirk
-Alabama LB Shaun Dion Hamilton vs. TAMU RB Keith Ford
-Alabama OT Jonah Williams vs. TAMU DE Jarrett Johnson/Landis Durham
-Alabama OC Bradley Bozeman vs. TAMU DT Zaycoven Henderson

Michigan State at #7 Michigan, 7:30pm on ABC
It’s the first ever night game in this series history and it’s going to be a better matchup than people think. Both teams are in the top 10 in pass defense. The Spartans beat a good Iowa team last week and Brian Lewerke has become a threat with his legs. Michigan is going with John O’Korn, who might be an upgrade at QB, but they have to protect him. The Wolverines have given up 12 sacks this season.
Matchups to watch:
-MSU OC Brian Allen vs. Michigan DT Maurice Hurst

#9 Wisconsin at Nebraska, 8pm on Big Ten Network
Wisconsin has dominated this series this decade and it’s time to prove itself as a top 10 team. The Badgers defense is really good again and last week showed a lot more pressure and got to Clayton Thorson. Tanner Lee has made some mistakes in the face of pressure this season, how much will the Badgers bring?
Matchups to watch:
-Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor vs. Nebraska LB Chris Weber
-Wisconsin FS Natrell Jamerson vs. Nebraska QB Tanner Lee
-Wisconsin CB Derrick Tindal vs. Nebraska WR Stanley Morgan

#11 Washington State at Oregon, 8pm on FOX
It might be true freshman Braxton Burmeister at QB after burning his redshirt last week against Cal when Justin Herbert and Taylor Alie both went down. Washington State is rolling and looking to stay undefeated. The
Oregon defense under Jim Leavitt has gotten back to emphasizing takeaways. Isaac Dotson at middle linebacker has been an improved presence for Washington State to limit opponents on the ground.
Matchups to watch:
-WSU OG Cody O’Connell vs. Oregon DE Henry Mondeaux
-WSU WR Tavares Martin vs. Oregon CB Arrion Springs
-WSU QB Luke Falk vs. Oregon S Tyree Robinson
-WSU DL Hercules Mata’afa vs. Oregon OT Tyrell Crosby
-WSU LB Isaac Dotson vs. Oregon RB Royce Freeman

Stanford at #20 Utah, 10:15pm on Fox Sports 1
What Stanford running back Bryce Love is doing out west is insane – 301 rushing yards last week and 1,088 this season while getting over 10 yards per carry. Now he faces the Utah defense, with one of the best lines in the nation and allowing just 87 yards per game rushing. The Utes have not allowed a 100-yard rusher yet this season. Coming off the bye week, it’s yet to be seen if DE Kylie Fitts will play for Utah but QB Troy Williams is expected to make the start in place of Tyler Huntley.
Matchups to watch:
-Stanford OG David Bright vs. Utah DT Lowell Lotulelei/Filipo Mokofisi
-Stanford CB Quenton Meeks vs. Utah WR Darren Carrington
-Stanford DT Harrison Phillips vs. Utah OG Salesi Uhatafe
-Stanford TE Dalton Schultz vs. Utah SS Chase Hansen
