Donald's four sacks help Rams roll

Wed, Oct 24, 2018

Aaron Donald  DT | Los Angeles Rams
2014 Reese's Senior Bowl

Now in his fifth season since playing in the 2014 Reese's Senior Bowl, Donald has clearly established himself as the most disruptive force on the defensive line in the NFL and he proved in again on Sunday. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year in the NFL dismantled the 49ers offensive line, tallying four sacks, five quarterback hits, nine total tackles, six tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in a 39-10 victory.

Not a bad day at the office.

The four sacks were a career high -- his previous sack high was three, accomplished once in 2015 and another time last season. And his six tackles for loss doubled his previous single-game career high of three, which he had recorded five times.

“I knew he had a really productive day, but then when you go back and you just tally up all the plays that he made and how he's getting there and affecting and influencing the game in a variety of ways from his position was really impressive,” head coach Sean McVay said of Donald. “That's why he's the man.”

Donald now has eight sacks through seven games and is on pace to destroy his previous career high in sacks (11 - twice, in 2015, 2017).

Kareem Hunt RB | Kansas City Chiefs
2017 Reese's Senior Bowl
Had five receptions for 55 yards and two scores and ran it 15 times for 86 yards and another touchdown in the Chiefs' rout of Cincinnati.

2015 Reese's Senior Bowl
The veteran wrecked havoc on the Arizona offense, racking up two sacks, four quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and a recovered fumble. If it wasn't for Donald's career day by the Bay, Miller easily could have earned this week's Alumnus of the Week honors.

2015 Reese's Senior Bowl
Recorded two sacks and five tackles in his return from injury on Monday night against the Giants.

Ryan Kerrigan, DT | Washington Redskins
